Neil Harrison Sensei
1st Dan

Neil Harrison Sensei
I was born in Leeds in 1964. After training from a junior level for many years at the Ju-Jutsu kai I was awarded the grade of Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt).

I joined the Royal Air Force 1985 as an Avionics technician and through my career I have lived in Germany, Scotland, Wales and England.

I have also been fortunate to travel extensively.

In 1985, while the RAF offered the opportunity to practice (at the time) more mainstream martial arts, Ju-Jitsu was relatively unheard of in the Air Force community, training partners were few and far between and as a consequence over the years I was forced and content to dabble in other arts however, nothing ever compared to the attraction of Ju-Jitsu. In recent years I have been able to train on an ad hoc basis with other Ju-Jitsuka who have increasingly arrived on the scene as Ju-Jitsu has become more widespread.

Having arrived at RAF Leeming, in 2005, I was pleased to find an existing Ju-Jitsu Club on station, the foundations of which were put in place by Paul Rudd (Now the Director for Wales) and Chalky White (Now of Stafford) who had left shortly before my arrival. For the first time in many years my new position, working 8 to 5, has allowed me to take on the role of Club Coach. Aided and abetted by a few committed senior members the Club continues to maintain a dedicated junior membership.

I am very impressed with the support that I have so far received from the Ishin Ryu association and am extremely pleased that it appears to be free from the political wrangling that blight many other organisations.

Neil Harrison Sensei currently teaches at the following dojo's:

  • R.A.F. Leeming Dojo
