I was born on 19th January 1966 in Salford when it was still Lancashire and not greater Manchester. When I was about 7 years old I started going to a local Judo club. After a couple of years, with both parents working full time, it got harder to get there regularly, and then the club closed down anyway. I also went to Brownies and Guides so I had plenty to fill my time without the judo as well. When I was at college, a friend of mine wanted to go to a Judo club but didn't want to go alone so I started training again. I was still going to Brownies as a leader and I was in the Air Training Corps with a view to joining the Royal Air Force. In December 1985 I did join up and met Paul on a blind date. Four years later we were married, then he went off to fight in the first Gulf conflict while I did my bit working on the Jaguars aircraft fleet and sending them back out to fight. When Paul got home our first son, Bill, came along, then Eddie followed. When they were about 6 and 7 years old they wanted to go to the Judo club on the camp where we were based and life plodded on. |
On Saturday the 15th of September, 2007, Kevin Pell Hanshi made a formal presentation of 2nd Dan, before all the atending martial artists at the International Seminar.
I now instruct at the Ju-Jitsu club here at RAF St Athan with Paul and still run my Brownie pack on camp, as well as being the District Commissioner for the area being responsible for 3 Rainbow units, 5 Brownie units, 3 Guide units and 1 Ranger unit.
