Chris Dunn Sensei 2nd Dan M.G.R.Y. |

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1966, Chris Dunn Sensei has had a lifelong interest in martial arts, studying Karate whilst at school, Aikido and Win Chung Kung Fu whilst at university, and Ju-Jitsu when he moved to Leeds. He was awarded his black belt in Ju-Jitsu in 2003 and later the same year was honoured to be invited by Kevin Pell Hanshi to join the Guild of Renmei Yudansha. Before attending university Chris joined the Royal Marine Reserve followed by service in C squadron 23 SAS (Special Air Service). He thereafter joined the Special Constabulary with Northumbria Police before becoming a full-time police officer with Kent County Constabulary. It was his time with the police service that precipitated his legal career. In 1988 Chris undertook an undergraduate degree at Newcastle Polytechnic before embarking on postgraduate studies in law at Newcastle University. In 1995, he studied for the Bar exams at the Inns of Court School of Law in London and was called to the bar by the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn in 1996. From 1996, he has been a tenant barrister at Sovereign Chambers in Leeds as part of the criminal team. |
In 2003, Chris drafted the Sekai Ishin Ryu Ju-Jitsu Renmei's 'Martial Artists guide to Self Defence and the Law'. This was published in the online magazine 'Fighting Arts'.
On 25th March 2006, Chris Dunn Sensei was honoured to be promoted to the rank of 2nd Dan by Kevin Pell Hanshi.
