Information

RAF Stafford opened in 1939 and, over time, has been home to No 16 Maintenance Unit, No 2 Mechanical Transport Squadron, No 85 Expeditionary Logistics Wing. In April 2006 the RAF surrendered control of Stafford, removing all of the Units with the exception of Tactical Supply Wing (TSW).

TSW's role is to provide logistics support, in the form of Rotors Turning Refuelling, to UK and NATO helicopters on operations and training across the globe. The site has been renamed Beacon Barracks and TSW personnel are now neighbours to members of 12 Signal Brigade and 22 Signal Regiment, including a contingent of Ghurkhas
