Thetford Saturday Infant class
Thetford Saturday Infant class Well done to Zak Lynn, Max Champion, Laurie Wilcockson and Ben register who all did fantastic last month. It is amazing how they have all changed so much in a very short time. When they turned up for their first lesson they all cried and didn't want to do it. Eight weeks later they are bowing into the dojo and enjoying every minute of their lesson. I look forward to grading them in November which will give them such a confidence boost.
Junior Class Last Month was a sad time for me as an instructor, Shino, Hunter and Kojiro Vanhoose said goodbye to all their fellow students. I know many students come and go for whatever reason, but it is always a shame when you know that they could have gone along way in Ishin Ryu. Their dad was being relocated to Korea and the rest of the family were going back to Japan. Since they joined three years ago they have taken part in every demonstration that I have organised. And there were many times that they saved the day when I didn't get much support from the juniors to take part in a demonstration. They were also the first ever children to be part of a demonstration team for the anniversary dinner. And her dad even helped out when we were short of a man for the dragon boat racing last year. I wish them all the best for the future, and thank them for everything they did in supporting their club and me their instructor. Welcome to Jack Owen and Harry baker to the junior class. They are both very keen and will be a great addition to the class. As usual the juniors are working to schedule for the last grading for this year. Well done to all the juniors for their tremendous work last month.
Monday Infant Class Congratulations to student of the month winner Nicolas Cleveland. He has been with us for a few years now and is a very well behaved student. The infants have been introduced to the blockers. It has been a great way to teach the infants different blocks that are used in ju-jitsu plus it makes it lots of fun to do. We have also introduced them to the exercise balls for teaching them how to roll properly. As they are very soft when they roll over them it cushions there bodies against any accidents. Monday Junior Class Welcome to Patrick McNicol, newest member to join the Monday class. It's been a steady month for the juniors and they have been working hard on their syllabus for the last grading for this year in November. As you can see by the photo every now and again the juniors are rewarded with some fun during the lesson. Keep up the good work, and remember hard work pays in the end.
Adults How do I begin to say how proud I am of Lisa and Dell who both did a fantastic Shodan-Ho grading last month. I think we should rename Dell as Superman as not only was it hard to keep up with him way out in front. He also had to do more then twelve miles as he missed the lake swim. Dell is very respectful and has become a very talented martial artist. One bit of advise stand well back when Dell is about to enter the dojo!!!!! I was very proud of Lisa in so many ways not only as her instructor but as a dear friend. She is the youngest ever girl to achieve the rank of Shodan-Ho. Lisa a credit to the club, federation and to what girls can achieve more then many men can do. She did a fantastic run, swim and fitness test followed by an excellent grading which was a pleasure to witness. They were both put through a Shodan-Ho grading that no one has ever done before.
Someone in the club had a very stupid idea of entering the "dragon boat race 2007", the day after the Shodan-Ho grading. We all turned up on the Sunday morning wishing we were still in bed. All we wanted to do was lie down and go to sleep. After coming nowhere in last year event everyone thought it would be a quick three races and straight back home. How wrong could we be!!! Once everyone had competed in their three races the top six went through to the semi finals, we were fourth overall. It was all down to the semi finals were the top two from each final went through and the fastest crew out of the last four went through to the final. In our semi final we came second behind last years winners. So it was all resting on our time and the times from the other crews. As we all waited patiently... as if! to hear who was the fasted out of the last four crews it seemed to last forever. A loud cheer went out from everyone as our crew name samurai was announced as the third crew through to the final. It was going to be hard to beat last year's team especially as everyone was completely shattered from the day before. It was all down to what lane we got and sadly we were given the slowest lane. We gave it our best shot but due to what everyone had been though the day before we did exceptionally well to end up with third overall. It was a great day out for everyone and for their families it was also a great surprise to be presented with third place medals and to get a mention in the local paper. Thank you to everyone that turned up to take part in a great event and their families that turned up to support us. Watch this space as we will be out for revenge at next year's event.
Brandon Infant Class Welcome to Fattima Kibboua, Anis Kibboua, Kyle Wells and Ethen Wells to the infant class. It is good to have new students join the club, also welcome back to Sylvan and Ilona lavelle back form their very long summer break. Like all the other clubs they have been working hard for the last grading for this year. But as usual all they want to do is play games. Brandon Junior Class Welcome to Edie Stitt and Ines Silva to the Brandon dojo. They have all been working really well on their syllabus for the last grading of 2007. Well done to Samantha Searle who had a great month and she will be doing extra training on a Saturday morning. She will do very well in the Saturday class, which is a fantastic class to be a part off. Keep up the good work and hopefully we will have a 100% pass rate at the grading's in November. Dereham Infants
Welcome two new students to the infant class: Keelan Smart and Dominic Larner. It will be a very special grading in November for my two senior students Georgia Boyd and Jack Smith. They are both going for the top grade of white/black, and are the longest serving students at the dojo. Well done to Rhys Pearson-Shaul and Tara Quinn who have both had an exceptional month in all their training. Dereham juniors Congratulations to student of the month for September Kane Cordy. He has been training at Dereham for the last couple of years and has developed into a respectful and hardworking student. The juniors are really getting to grips with the blockers and the two man attacks. It is a great way of building their confidence and speed to react quickly. Well done to all the girls who worked extremely well last month.
Adult Class Well done to the adults who worked really hard last month. They won't forget one lesson; it was the hardest they have been pushed since the club began. Some good news Darren is well on the mend and can't wait to get back to training. Well done to everyone for all their hard work. Domo Arigato Trevor Steward Renshi
